1. Orlando L. Taylor (1936 - ) is dean of the Graduate School at Howard University. As a speech and communication scholar, Taylor and several other colleagues helped coin the term, "Ebonics." Taylor is the author of numerous books, chapters and articles in the field of communication disorders and linguistics.

2. Opera singer Mattiwilda Dobbs Janzon (1925 - 2015 ) was the first African American woman to appear in a principal role at La Scala Opera House in Milan. Dobbs also desegregated the San Francisco Opera Company and performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Dobbs passed away on December 8, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia.

3. Music professor and music director Julian White (1941 - ) was a distinguished Professor of Music and Chairman of the Department of Music at Florida A&M University. He also served as the director of the famed FAMU “Marching 100” Band.

4. Curator, film producer, and museum director Dan Moore, Sr. (1935 - ) is the founder of the African American Panoramic Museum Experience. His first film was a documentary entitled On Patrol for God, filmed at a Christian rally he helped to organize. Moore also produced, wrote, and directed The Journey, Sweet Auburn Street of Pride, and A New Time for a New Voice.
